Our microdata is available in a number of statistical analysis programmes, including SAS, SPSS, and Stata. These programmes show labels for each variable in a data file. If you are analysing the data in R you will not see variable labels displayed as in these programmes. Rather these are attached as attributes. There are a number of ways that these variable labels which are attached as attributes can be viewed in R. The examples provided below show how this can be done:
